About Draftly
Draftly is a 2D CAD app for working drafters, built and supported by one person: Tyler Thompson, a working drafter. It runs in your browser, and Draftly CAD for iPhone and iPad is on the App Store.
Who builds it
Draftly is operated by Tyler Thompson, doing business as Draftly, from Columbus, Ohio. He designs it, writes it, ships it and answers the support email himself. There is no support team in between.
Draftly has been in development since July 2025. The web app is the complete product and runs at draftlycad.com/app. Draftly CAD 1.0.5 for iPhone and iPad went live on the App Store on 23 September 2026. Native desktop builds and the Google Play build are in development, and platform status says exactly where each one is.
Why it exists
“I refuse to rent my tools to do my job.” Draftly keeps the
command line drafters already have in muscle memory and sells a
one-time lifetime seat alongside the subscription. The free tier is
covered by a written no-rug-pull
commitment in the Terms, and your drawings are saved as readable
.drft JSON that you can take anywhere.
How it stays honest
The changelog records what shipped, including the published claims that turned out to be wrong and were corrected. Platform status is the canonical list of what exists and what the app does not do yet. The home page shows the features Draftly is missing next to the ones it has.
